Social media campaign for IKEA

IKEA is a Scandinavian company, with stores all over the world, that specializes in selling ready-to-assemble furniture, home accessories and appliances.

Brief:

To create an advertisement concept for IKEA's social media and advertise the current selection of items.

Thought process:

My process began by looking around the company's website. Finding out more about the current offering and the 'feel' of the business.

Reached the decision to focus on social media adverts. That, lead me to remember a concept with GIFs: a lot of images changing quick, then a person stops the GIF or screenshots the page - getting a random outcome.

The next natural step was to start figuring out the idea visually on Canva and Adobe Photoshop.

Final concept:

The final concept is a variation of different appliances for different rooms. The copywriting is inspired by 'choose your character', a phrase seen in a lot of video games.

This concept can also be presented as 'choose your couch' or 'choose your mirror', etc. This allows that extra variability when advertising on social media.

This campaign could be implemented all over social networks, but I believe it would fit Twitter the best. It was designed to be adaptable to any categories and products IKEA has to offer.

Real pictures of IKEA's stock would be used instead of illustrations for an actual campaign to advertise available products (could/would vary country by country, if to be launched internationally).

Final thoughts:

Researching and figuring out an idea proved to be harder than I initially expected. But I believe I met my set out brief and produced a strong concept for IKEA.
